My Top Border Stretched Scrolling Text Bubble Graphic Stationery

Whew what a mouthful!

Goal shown at smaller size:

Hooty-Tut© aka Doyle Allen  3/25/2003

Approved by the HootyTutTestersGroup!

Needed: PaintShopPro and the graphic

Hooty-Tip!: Did you know that Hooty-Tuts are

made to be used as a split-screen?!

That’s why they are made narrow!

****************************************

I would say the skill level for this tutorial is

advanced intermediate!

This tut combines several techniques to make

one finished result and is quite extensive.

We will basically be doing a Top Border,

Stretched Background, Scrolling Text and

making a bubble face on the graphic such as you

see in globes.

Not trying to scare you, just saying it is a lot if

you are not used to most of these separate things!

****************************************

Use the graphic below by right clicking on it and

save it to your document files.

1.Open up the graphic in PaintShopPro

2.Duplicate the graphic twice and close out the

original graphic.

3.Minimize one of the duplicates. (We’ll get back

to it later.)

4.Eyedropper   right click on the black part

of the graphic to set the background color.

5.Image/Canvas size

Settings shown:

 Width 1024 Height 241 Right 843

6.Duplicate the layer by right clicking on the

Background layer on your layer palette and

selecting layer.

7.Double click on Copy of Background and

rename it Stretched Background if you want.

8.Selection Tool  : Rectangle shape chosen.

Draw the shape enclosing most of the image as

is shown below. Be sure that you start all the

way at the top and end all the way past the

bottom.

9.Left click inside the box of the marching ants

10.Deformation Tool

11.Left click and drag the right middle node all

the way past the end as shown below:

12.Ctrl + D (to deselect)

13.Image/Canvas size

Width1024 Height 768 Bottom 527

14.Selection Tool: draw a selection below the

blue area to use as your divider bar.

It should probably be about 20-30 pixels in

height and all the way across from end to end.

15.With your eyedropper  left click on the

dark blue color to set the foreground color and

for your border color.

(Light blue would probably be a good color for

your font when you are done!)

16.Flood Tool: left click in the selection

rectangle to fill it with the blue color.

17.Effects/Texture/Weave

Settings: 5  5  100, fill gaps checked

18.Effects/Geometric/Wave

way and open the other graphic!

On your own graphics this is what you will

aim for.

Finish Page to save it!

And you will have a scrolling text that looks

cool!

*****************************************

Whew! It almost took that long

just to say the title didn’t it!

LOL

Hope you learned this technique alright. As most

things are, the more times you do it .. the more

familiar you become with it… the easier it becomes to do.
