The Goal Shown:

below.
2. Select the Shapes Tool and a shape as shown
below.
Use the same settings.
3. Left click and drag out your shape on your
transparent canvas leaving some room on the left and right side of your canvas.
See below.
4.When you are satisfied with your shape:
Layers / Convert to raster Layer.
5. Click on the Magic Wand Tool and click on the
frame.
This activates the marching ants on the outside of
your shape.
6.Select a plug-in filter that will jazz up your
frame shape.
This could be Textures,BladePro,EyeCandy Etc.
I used SuperBladePro.
Keep in mind that this will be shown in the end as
the edges of the shape frame , so plan accordingly.
7. Effects / 3D Effects / Inner Bevel. Settings
Shown.
8. Selections / Modify / Contract / Set At 4.
9. Select a Plug-in Filter effect and apply again,
as you did in step 6.
This will fill the inside of the frame leaving the
outside edge that you originally put on in step 6. (makes sense now, right?!)
10. Effects / 3D Effects / Inner Bevel with
different settings and shape as shown below.
11. Selections / Select None
This deactivates your selection.
12. Copy Frame Image: Right Click on the blue border
that surrounds your minimized Shape Frame.
13.Right Click on blue Border again. Paste as new
layer.
14. Repeat step 13 to add another layer.
15. Select Mover Tool (shown below depressed button)
click on layer 3 image and pull it to the right.
16. Click on the layer 2 Image and pull it to the
left.
Note: You can tell which image you have clicked on
by which image highlights in the layer Palette.
17.Click on all activated layers on the eyeglasses
icons in the layer palette leaving only layer 3 activated as shown below.
18. Click on the Selection Tool (shown depressed)
and click and drag a rectangular shape down the right side of the frame layer 3.
19. Click Delete on your keyboard and it removes
that and there are no stray pixels left as there is sometimes when using the
eraser.
20.Ctrl D on your keyboard deactivates your
selection.
21.Click on the Layer palette on layer 2 and click
and drag it to the top so it appears as below.
22.Repeat steps 18,19 and 20. This time removing the
section shown on the left side of layer 2.
23. Click on your Mover Tool and make any needed
adjustments to the images aligning left and right with the original frame
graphic.
Tip: Click on your Zoom Tool (the magnifying glass
icon) and right click on your image for a better view and more accurate placing.
24.Click on the original frame graphic and pull it
to the top of the Layers Palette to put the other layer 1 and 2 underneath.
Tip: Another way to move the layers is to click on
the layers palette on the layer you want moved then: Layers / Arrange / Bring to
top etc.
25. Layers / Merge Visible Layers.
Note: Your original Transparent Canvas is
deactivated before you do this.
26.Magic Wand Tool, activate all 3 open areas in
your frame holding down the shift key on your key board at the same time.
27.Modify / Expand (set at 3)
28.Open up an image (Graphic) that you want to use.
29. Right click on the border around your minimized
image and select copy.
30. Right click the Blue Border on your Frame
Graphic and select Paste Into Selection.
Graphic shown with how it looks after pasting into
selection.
31. Ctrl D to deactivate your selections.
32.Save to your files as a gif transparency. Mail me
and show me what you've created using the knowledge from this tut!
doyle@adventurous.net. That will make the 7 hours writing this tutorial
worth while for me! Thanks!!
Experiment with shapes, rotation combinations and be
creative.
Tip. Always use a graphic larger then your frame
area to keep the high quality. Anytime your enlarge a graphic the quality is
lost. |
