Recommended Skill Level - Intermediate 

NEEDED:

This tutorial was written in PSP 9

Embroidery29 template

 

Weave pattern29 > Put this in your

PSP patterns folder before opening PSP.

 

A graphic of your choice.

Slightly taller than wide.

 Your graphic should be lighter colors.

Dark spots will not show the effects

that we use.

Beware! If you use a graphic with

a lot of white or near white it will not

work with this tutorial. As one of our

testers said.. "It looks like tupperware!" lol

.

Performance Notes:

  All settings remain the same unless

otherwise stated.

 

OPEN PAINT SHOP PRO

 

1  File > Open

Open my Embroidery29 template

 

2  Shift + D (duplicate image)

 

3  Close the original template

 

 

4  File > Open

Open your graphic of choice.

Remember: One that is taller

than it is wide. Light colors!

Tip: Adjust > One Step Photo Fix

can lighten a graphic easily and

Adjust > Brightness and Contrast >

Brightness/Contrast could be used

as well.

 

5    Edit > Copy (Ctrl + C)

You are copying your graphic.

 

(E) Dropper Tool

Materials Palette

Set your Foreground to a light color 

compatible with your graphic.

This will be the basic color of your

background that the text will be

written on.

Picking a color from your graphic

would be appropriate.

 

7  Set your Background to Pattern.

Select the Weave pattern29

Settings:

Angle = 0, Scale = 100

Texture = NOT Checked

   OK

 

8  Minimize your graphic.

We are going back to the transparent

template duplicate.

 

9  (F) Flood Fill Tool

Settings:

Match mode = None

Blend mode = Normal

Sample merged = Checked

  Left click on your transparent

template to flood it with your light

color. 

 

10  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

11  Right click on this layer and

flood fill with your Weave pattern29 

 

12  Layers Palette

Lower the opacity on this layer

to about 25 suggested.

You want the color and pattern to

show and still be text friendly.

 

 

13  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

14  Selections > Load / Save Selection >

Load Selection from Alpha Channel

Settings:

Load From Document = This should

have the same image # as the image

you are currently working on which

is the duplicate of the template you

made.

Selection # 1

Replace selection = Checked

Nothing else is Checked.

  Load

 

15  Edit > Paste > Paste Into Selection

This pastes your graphic into

the selection.

 

16  Effects > Artistic Effects > Halftone

Default Settings:

Change only these 2 things.

Cell properties = Square

Use as overlay = Checked

   OK

 

 

17  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

18  Selections > Load / Save Selection >

Load Selection from Alpha Channel

Settings:

Selection # 2

Load

 

19  Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout

Settings:

Vertical = (minus) - 6

Horizontal = (minus) - 9

Opacity = 30, Blur = 60.00

Shadow Color = Black

Fill interior with color = NOT Checked

   OK

 

 

20  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

21  Selections > Load / Save Selection >

Load Selection from Alpha Channel

Settings:

Selection # 3

Load

 

22  Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical and Horizontal both at 5

Opacity = 20, Blur = 5

Color = Black

   OK

 

23  Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

 

24  Selections > Load / Save Selection >

Load Selection from Alpha Channel

Settings:

Selection # 4

Load

 

25  Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel

Settings:

Bevel #2 ,  Width = 2

Image

Smoothness = 0, Depth at 3

Ambience and Shininess both at 0

Light

Color = White

Angle = 315

Intensity = 50, Elevation = 30

   OK

 

 

26  Selections > Load / Save Selection >

Load Selection from Alpha Channel

Settings:

Selection # 5

Load

 

27  Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds

Settings:

Width = 10 , Opacity = 10

Color = Black

Horizontal = NOT Checked

Light from left/top = Checked

  OK

 

28  Selections > Select None

 

 

29  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

30 Add your watermark

 

31  File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

Compression suggested = 20-25
