XPanDid Frame

This tutorial was written in PSP 10

but you should be able to do it in any

version of Paint Shop Pro.

 

Intermediate Skill Level

NEEDED:

Alpha Selection "xpandid_alphabyhooty" 

Download it HERE

You will need to unzip it!

 

A colorful graphic that is wide such

as a 800 x 600 pixel graphic will work

best.

 

Performance Notes

All settings will remain the same

unless otherwise noted.

LET'S BEGIN !

OPEN PAINT SHOP PRO

MAKING THE HEADER

 

1  File > Open

Your wide colorful graphic of choice.

 

2  Window > Duplicate

 

3  Close your original

 

4  Zoom out on your graphic to

make it smaller and drag it to

the bottom of your workspace.

You can press the minus sign a

few times on your keyboard to

do this.

We will be doing things such as

flipping it, and mirroring it and

undoing to return it to it's original

state as we copy it different ways

to paste it.

We will be referring to this simply

as the "graphic" in this tutorial.

 

5  Image > Flip

 

6  Edit > Copy

 

7  Edit > Undo

 

8  File > Open

9  Window > Duplicate

 

10  Close the original

 

 

11  Selections > Load/Save Selection >

Load Selection From Alpha Channel

Settings:

Selection # 1

Replace selection = Checked

Options = Nothing Checked

Load

 

12  Edit > Paste Into Selection

 

13  Make your graphic active.

 

14  Edit > Copy

 

 

15  Make your Alpha palette active.

 

16  Selections > Load/Save Selection >

Load Selection From Alpha Channel

Settings:

Selection # 2
Load

17  Edit > Paste Into Selection

 

 

18  Selections > Load/Save Selection >

Load Selection From Alpha Channel

Settings:

Selection # 3

Load

 

19  Edit > Paste Into Selection

 

 

20  Make your graphic active

 

21  Image > Mirror

 

22  Edit > Copy

 

 

23  Make your Alpha palette active.

 

24  Selections > Load/Save Selection >

Load Selection From Alpha Channel

Settings:

Selection # 4
Load

25  Edit > Paste Into Selection

 

 

26  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

27  Flood Fill Tool

Settings:

Match mode = None

Use all layers = Checked

Blend mode = Normal, Opacity = 100

 

28  Materials Palette

Foreground settings:

Choose which pattern fill you would

like for your background and chain.

Most likely you will want them to match

each other so we only need one choice.

Could be that you would like a gold or

silver pattern fill for instance.

Use any settings you think would look

best.

 

29  Selections > Load/Save Selection >

Load Selection From Alpha Channel

Settings:

Selection # 5
Load

 

30  Flood Fill Tool

Left click inside of your active selection

and fill with your chosen pattern

that you chose in step 28.

 

31  Selections > Select None

 

32  Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = (minus) - 8, Horizontal = 0

Opacity = 15,  Blur = 10.00

Color = Black

Shadow on new layer = NOT Checked

 

 

33  Selections > Load/Save Selection >

Load Selection From Alpha Channel

Settings:

Selection # 6
Load

 

34  Flood Fill Tool

Left click inside of your active selections

and fill with your chosen pattern.

Be sure both selections on the left and

right are filled.

 

35  Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = 0,  Horizontal = 5

Opacity = 30,  Blur = 5.00

Color = Black

Shadow on new layer = NOT Checked

 

36  Selections > Select None

 

37  Layers > New Raster Layer

Add your Watermark.

 

38  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

39  Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

40  Flood Fill Tool

Fill with whatever you would like used

for your background. A simple color

fill is good.

 

41  File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

Compression = 25
