MAKE A CHRISTMAS TREE

NEEDED:
PaintShopPro
Supplied with PSP are the Spiky twirl
large and medium brushes that we
will be using.
Performance notes:
All settings remain the same
unless otherwise stated.
For all the Brush settings we will be
having Load Variance = Checked.
--------
OPEN PSP
1 File > New
Settings:
Width = 800, Height = 600 pixels
Raster Background
Color Depth = RGB 8 bits/channel
In earlier PSP versions it would be
16 million colors (24 bit) instead.
Transparent = Checked
2 (B) Brush Tool
Settings:
Spiky twirl Large
Change size to 100 only.
The rest will remain at their default
settings.
3 Materials Palette
Change your Foreground to color GREEN

Change your Background to color BLACK
HTML #000000
4 Left click and drag from the top center
and make an outline of your tree shape.
5 Left click and drag to fill it in.
6 Give it a good bottom by dragging
left and right, back and forth and
giving it a pretty solid bottom.
7 Layers > New Raster Layer
8 Brush Tool
Settings:
Change to the +Default Brush
Change the size to about 32.
9 Materials palette
Toggle your Foreground and
Background colors so you have black
as your Foreground color.
10 Left click and paint black over the
transparent areas inside your tree
by clicking and dragging .
11 Layers > Arrange > Move Down
12 Make the top layer active in your
layers palette.
Make the Tinsel
13 Layers > New Raster Layer
14 Materials Palette
Toggle your Foreground and Background
colors again.
Your Foreground will now be GREEN.
Change your Background to pattern
and choose a plain silver pattern.
15 (B) Brush
Change your brush to Spiky twirl
medium.
Change the size to 50
16 Click and drag left to right to make
some tinsel.
Adding Christmas Balls
17 Layers > New Raster Layer
Settings:
+Default
Change the size to 50.
19 Materials Palette
Change the Foreground color to RED.

Paint some dots aka balls underneath
the tinsel with a little gap between them.
20 Materials Palette
Change the Foreground color to BLUE.

Paint some more balls of this color.
21 Materials Palette
Change the Foreground color to GREEN.

Paint some more balls of this color.
Adding Highlights
22 Layers > New Raster Layer
23 (B) Brush Tool
Settings:
Change the size to 20.
24 Materials Palette
Change the Foreground color to WHITE

25 Paint a white dot on the edge of each
the balls but not outside the ball
shapes.
26 Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Settings:
Radius = 3.00
27 Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
28 Crop Tool
Crop any excess transparent areas.
29 Image > Resize
Resize to the size that you want to
suit your purposes.
30 Layers > New Raster Layer
31 Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom
32 (F) Flood Fill Tool
Settings:
Match mode = None
Use all layers = NOT Checked
Blend mode = Normal, Opacity = 100
33 Fill with your desired background
color or pattern, texture or whatever
you would like.
34 File > Export > JPEG Optimizer
Compression = 25
35 You are done! I hope you enjoyed
