This tutorial was written in PSP 10
but you should be able to do it in any
version of Paint Shop Pro.

You will need to unzip it!
A tube for a romantic theme that is
a little taller than wide.
Gold or Silver patterns.
I used goldfoil. Get some

Performance Notes
All settings will remain the same
unless otherwise noted.

Let's Begin !
OPEN PAINT SHOP PRO
1 File > Open
heartdeluxe_alphabyhooty.psp
2 Window > Duplicate
3 Close the original.
4 Materials Palette
Foreground
Color = This is your choice and
will be the color of your background
for your stationery when you are
finished.
Background
Pattern
Change your Background to a gold or
silver fill pattern. Use your own settings.
Texture = NOT Checked
Note:
I am using goldfoil at 50% size
for this one you see in the goal shot.
5 (F) Flood Fill Tool
Settings:
Match mode = None
Use all layers = Checked
Blend mode = Normal, Opacity = 100
Left click and fill with your color.
6 Selections > Load/Save Selection >
Load Selection From Alpha Channel
Settings:
Selection # 1
Replace selection = Checked
Options = Nothing Checked
Load
7 (F) Flood Fill Tool
Right click and fill your selections
with your pattern.
8 Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel
Settings:
Bevel # 2, Width = 30
Smoothness = 30, Depth = 5
Ambience = 0, Shininess = 0
Color = White, Angle = 315
Intensity = 50, Elevation = 30
9 Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical and Horizontal both at 5
Opacity = 30, Blur = 5.00
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = NOT Checked.
10 Selections > Load/Save Selection >
Load Selection From Alpha Channel
Settings:
Selection # 2
Load
11 Adjust > Add/Remove Noise >
Add Noise
Suggested Settings:
(or use your own)
Random selected. Noise = 10
Monochrome = NOT Checked
12 Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel
13 Selections > Select None
14 File > Open
Your slightly taller romantic tube.
15 (R) Crop Tool
Crop your tube removing any
extra transparent space around it
if it has that so the size will be the
actual right final size next.
16 Image > Resize
Settings:
Resample using = Smart Size
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Width no more than 170 Pixels
Height will automatically adjust itself.
17 Edit > Copy
18 Close your tube.
19 Edit > Paste As New Layer
20 Move Tool
Move your tube to the box on the
bottom left and position the bottom
flush with the bottom of the box.
Note:
If your tube is higher than the
top of the box that is ok. It will still
look good. Maybe even better !

Optional:
You may want to add a slight Drop
Shadow to your tube at this point.

21 (T) Text Tool
Use your own settings:
I recommend you create as vector and
with the stroke at zero.
Use a medium or slightly fat medium
type of font. We are going to be
applying a cutout to it. Thin fonts will
not work correctly.
22 Materials Palette
Change your background to
color and white.
23 Add text to the biggest heart
keeping your text away from all
the inner edges of the heart shape.
24 Selections > From Vector Object
25 Layers > Convert to Raster Layer
26 Layers > New Raster Layer
27 Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
Settings:
Vertical and Horizontal both at 3
Opacity = 40, Blur = 3.00
Shadow color = Black
Fill interior with color = NOT Checked
28 Selections > Select None
29 Layers > New Raster Layer
Add your watermark.
30 File > Export > JPEG Optimizer
Compression = 25
Do not close this.
We will be using
it to start making our background tile.
31 Turn off your watermark layer.
32 Layers > Merge > Merge All (Flatten)
BACKGROUND
1 Selections > Load/Save Selection >
Load Selection From Alpha Channel
Settings:
Selection # 3
Load
2 Edit > Copy
3 Edit > Paste As New Image
4 Close your header (alpha)
Yes this is an odd shape but let's
use it anyway! lol
5 Image > Resize
Settings:
Width and Height both at 40 % Percent.
6 Effects > Image Effects >
Seamless Tiling
Settings:
Set to default by clicking on the
arrow icon next to the save button
at the top right.
7 Image > Canvas Size
Settings:
Lock aspect ratio = Not Checked
Width = 1280, Height = 188
Placement = Left Center
8 Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical = 0, Horizontal = 5
Opacity = 30, Blur = 5.00
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = NOT Checked
9 Layers > New Raster Layer
10 (F) Flood Fill Tool
Left click and fill your new layer with
your color.
11 Layers > Arrange > Move Down
12 File > Export > JPEG Optimizer
Compression = 25
